iKokomo
When I shake my Nikon 85mm 1.8g, something rattles inside the lens. However, when I manually focus to infinity, the rattling goes away. However, when I turn the manual focus ring even a tiny bit away from infinity, the rattling goes back. I have attached a video of the issue. :)
Sanford
Did this just start happening or has it always been this way? Ken Rockwell reviewed this lens and says it makes a mild clunking noise when shaken.
ShunCheung
I have had the 85mm/f1.8 AF-S since its introduction. That loud sound when you shake it is definitely not normal. I have over 20 AF-S lenses, and none of them does that.
iKokomo
Update: It seems like there is a loose element, here is a closeup.
Mary Doo
Suggest asking the seller about it and request exchange. There shouldn't be a loose canon inside a Nikon lens.
