chad_hahn
I found a k mount 55mm f2 pentax lens. I am unable to find much about it online. Is it worth much more than a 50mm? Is it a better lens or just different? Any information would be helpful. Thanks, Chad
Michael R Freeman
Doesn't give you an indication of value, but here is some technical info on the 55/2: <a href="http://www.bdimitrov.de/kmp/lenses/primes/normal/K55f2.html">http://www.bdimitrov.de/kmp/lenses/primes/normal/K55f2.html</a><br>This lens MIGHT be of interest to Pentax collectors, as it was apparently only produced for two years, and probably is not that common. jeffpolaski
I have two K-mount 55mm lenses, f1.8 and f2.0. I got them because they were specifically matched to my Pentax KX bodies, which are my primary shooting cameras. Using a 55mm lens on the KX, there is no magnifacation facter at all in the viewfinder. That is, when I keep both eyes open during framing, what I see in each eye is identical. It's a matter of personal preference. With both eyes open, I also see what is outside the frame. A drawback is that both eyes open leads to stereo vision, which in composition is a handicap when using a two dimensional medium. I don't know for sure, but suppose the effect would be the same on bodies similar to the KX: KM, K2, K-1000. Value is probably not different. Quality is not something I can judge, as I am not a good enough photographer to be able to blame lousy shots on a lens.
peter_yee
You can look on this sight for evaluation of the lenses- http://www.takinami.com/yoshihiko/photo/lens_test/index.html
chad_hahn
Thanks for the responses. Glad to know what I have. The magnification factor thing is kind of neat. Chad
