henk
The one thing i always found annoying about the F2 is the loud and heavy mirror-slap. I accepted the fact that this comes with the camera (its still the closest to a perfect camera IMO), however since i recently replaced the shutter curtains of one of my F2's it came up again. My question is, does anyone have any experiences with mirror replacing, and is it possible to replace the F2's mirror with a better/lighter/smaller one? If someone already did this before, did it work out ok, and what were the costs involved. Greetings,
todd peach seattle, washi
got foam? <p> I can't answer your question about modifying the mirror, but if the mirror slap is bugging you make sure your mirror foam is in good shape. It can make a difference...........
henk
Todd, Thnx for your responce, but my foam is AOK. I asked if mirror improvement was possible to the largest repair firms in my country, but only got responses like 'dont repair f2's anymore' or 'no parts', probably its too much to ask. Maybe ill encounter some mechanical genious some day ;)P Greetings,
charles_miller
I had a similar wish about putting a weaker mirror-up spring in an F3 so it would have a gentler, but probably slower, mirror up action. I haven't pursued that yet, but the folks at Photography on Bald Mountain in Davenport, CA have seemed to like these kinds of questions and jobs in the past.
