mike simons
Hi folks - Looking to do a better job displaying my portfolio via my website; looking for good flash gallery resources that I can upload to my server space --- something to plug into a site, with some editability/customization. Music is not a need, and my biggest concern is that the gallery present well and professionally, and not be annoying in its interface, use, or navigation.... Thoughts? Suggestions? Examples? -Mike
Matt Laur
If you don't mind embedding some flash in your web site, try Jalbum ... which generates the galleries, and allows you to skin them using all sorts of third party skins. Some, like the Fotoplayer skin can cost a few dollars, and get quite elaborate (including commerce features, etc). Worth a look, anyway. Jalbum is free.
gmahler5th
Will this be used for proofing or for a portfolio? how often will the content be updated? If it's for a portfolio piece, the navigation can be fairly static and coded in an HTML wrapper around the Flash gallery. If you already own Lightroom, you already own the best platform for Flash portfolio management without paying a ton of cash for custom Flash development. Another benefit of using Lightroom is that you can use the SlideShow Pro plugin for added flexibility with design and management. If you are a pro shooter, you will need to set some budget for integrating the Flash gallery look and feel into your current website, so it doesn't look like a hack. For more ideas and examples, check out the articles "Online Portfolios For Photographers" and "Best Of Photography Websites" on my website. swamphox
Mike I am using Portfoliositez http://portfoliositez.com/, the interface is really simple, the 15 bucks a month is unbeatable and the tech support is pretty damn good and fast. I had my site http://swamphox.com/ transfered (option) in a couple of days and I had it looking pretty good after a couple hours with their interface. I am nothing but happy with the gals who run this service! Tom S.
