noah
I'm considering the purchase of a used Howtek d4500 drum scanner to scan my 8x10 color negatives, and I was wondering about using silverfast software with the scanner. I have heard that there are some banding or streaking issues with this combination, but I'm hoping these have been fixed in newer software versions. Does anyone out there use this combination, or have any advice? Thanks.
luther_smith
I have the 4000 Howtek and silverfast. It is a good combination. Be careful about buying used Drum scanners. I purchased mine on e-bay. Buying one from a dealer is probably a better choice. You will need a mounting station. The Howtek gives beautiful scans with silverfast and you can run contemporary operating systems. The problem is learning to wet-mount. It takes a little work. Although I think the larger film like 8X10 is easier than small film. Luther
