Hi,

I appreiciate if anyone can give some comments about the following 2 lenses. Which is better?

Sigma 18-35mm f3.5-4.5 Apspherical with Internal Focusing

Canon 20-35mm f3.5-4.5 USM

Currently, I have a Canon 28-80mm f3.5-5.6 USM and a Sigma APO 70-300mm f4.0-5.6 with Macro at 1:2. Is it advisible to get the above

lens for wide angle scenery taking? Or should I go straight for 20mm instead? Any recommendated lens for 20mm on Canon EOS? Thanks in advance.

Regards

Seb

This question really belongs in the original Q&A forum, not the

nature forum, since it's 95% equipment focused.

If you are happy with your current lenses, it really won't make

much difference which brand of lens you buy. All the lenses you

mention are capable of decent, if not particularly spectacular,

performance when used properly.

The 20mm prime (Canon) may be better than the other lenses when used at large (fast) apertures,

but unless you intend to use it at large (fast) apertures, that may not

be very important.

There is indeed alot of difference between a 28mm and a 20mm, especially for some scence in Singapore.
I would advice u to get the Canon 20-35mm rather than the fix 20mm, especially if you are taking slides. The zooming would allow you to 'crop' your photos.
