rarmstrong
I have been searching for a good longer zoom for my D300 for wildlife photography this summer. I have been reading about this Sigma lens and wondering if anyone has one yet or if there are any reviews that you know of out there. It sounds like a heavy lens but that shouldn't be a problem with tripod use. Does anyone have any thoughts about this? Thank you!
robert_hooper1
I have read some marketing announcements about this lens, but it may not be available on the retail market at this time.
Matt Laur
There's a 170-500 that's very similar, and just as new. Both are intriguing... but the performance would sure have to be compelling. I think they'll each be at or under $1k. We shall see!
juan_parm_nides
I have read in the web about the Sigma 50-500. It is said that 50-500 is faster focusing (HSM) and sharper but a little bit heavy, must use a tripod or monopod. Both lenses need a good and sunny day to focus correctly at its max focal lenght. Anyawy, focusing @ 500mm is not so easy as focusing at 28mm. Cheers.
jwhite3.0
The lens is available at Adorama. I would like to see some user reviews too.
jwhite3.0
Oops, it's available in Canon mount but not Nikon mount yet
john_rottman
Just got mine from TriState Camera for $829 plus shipping. It takes some adjusting because the lens with the Optical Stabilization is a real machine - not just some glass put together. Once you get the hang of it, you'll love it. I also have the 170-500 but this is a better lens. I look forward to some professional evaluations but didn't want to wait for mine and I'm glad I got it right away. Comes with a great tripod mount and the usual great Sigma carry bag.
