j.ed_baker
I recently acquired an XG-A that has several problems. First, the power switch does not function. Investigation shows that the detent ball is missing, but I don?t know if there are any other parts gone as well. Second, the film advance never stops. If so desired an entire roll could be wound through with out ever tripping the shutter. Third, the top plate is cracked at the right rear corner as if dropped. This may be a contributing factor in the switch problem, but by itself is of the most minor concern. I purchased this as a possible back-up to my X-700, but I fear I?ve gotten a stylish paperweight. If anyone could share some repair tips or the pertinent pages from the repair manual, I would be most grateful. J.Ed
fmueller
Working XG series bodies sell on eBay from about $20 - see eg item number: 3876918603, 3878229823, and 3877842180. Unless you are looking for a project to practive your repair skills on, I doubt that fixing an XG-A with damage as extensive as yours seems to have would be worth your while. jason_thomas1
And if you're going to buy another camera, I would go for the xgm; still retains metering in manual mode and has a depth-of-field preview button. They can be had for about $40.
