shutter problems

My trusty K1000 suddenly developed a shutter problem, the curtains

are continualy in the closed position. They do move if pushed manualy

or when depressing the button. After reading a book by Thomas Tomosey

on camera maintence and repair I assume it needs a CLA. I don't want

to spend the money to have it professionaly done and I have some

experience dismantaling other cameras. Is there a quick fix that will

put it back in working order or do I need to break it down

completely, and if so how should i plan my attack?

I must be misunderstanding you, 'cause that's the normal operation. The shutter doesn't open unless you depress the button.
