newton_shrader1
I just bought an old Bronica ETR-C body and 75mm f2.8 MC. When I fire the body (tried with a couple of different batteries), the mirror swings up immediately, but then there is a one second delay before the leaf shutter opens and closes. In one of my friends' old Hasselblad cameras, there is no delay between firing the camera and the shutter opening and closing. Everything seems to happen in tenths of a second. This is the only Bronica lens I have currently, so I don't know if it is a body problem or lens problem. I suppose if it is a lens problem I can replace the lens cheaper than I can repair it. I am open to suggestion. Thanks.
mark_e2
That sounds like there is a foreign substance, like oil, on the shutter blades. It is the surface tension of that material that causes the delay. Examine the shutter blades when the shutter is closed and watch them as they open when you tension the shutter. If there is something on them you should see it, either as a dark material or with a slight rainbow effect. If this is the problem, then a shutter overhaul (the lens) is in order. johnw436
As Mark says, there should be no delay. Keep exercising the shutter, as it may clear up some. If it does not I'd replace the lens. They are very cheap now on ebay and at KEH. The labor to repair it may cost more than replacing the lens.
