Shutter actuations

I have got a refurbished DL. Wonder how I can check the number of shutter

actuations already done? Search with the forum did not yield results.

Have you shot an image? Unless pre-set otherwise, the image number should be the same as the shutter actuations.

Look for 'Shutter Count' in EXIF.

If a camera comes out of the box with the filenames starting at some random number in the

high 5000's, like 5836 or something, is it fair to conclude it is refurbished?

Not necessarily. I can make a brand new camera start at 9876 if I put a card into the camera

that already had 9875 from a different camera on it. They only way to REALLY know is to

check the EXIF data.

 

A likely scenario is that this may have been a demo unit and a card that was used in another

camera was put in this one, forcing the file counter up.

I use Window XP and from properties of the photo, the frame count is alwways 1. I cannot find the "shutter count". Perhaps there is another EXIF program that I should install?
