lawrence___
I want to connect the Metz 40MZ on the hot shoe of the Speed Grid with the SCA386 adapter. Is it possible? Other suggestions are welcome. Thanks!
paul_chuah
Hi Lawrence, Firstly, you must purchase the Bronica SCA interface. Refering to the Metz system chart (obtainable from your dealer) you'll have to get the interface that replaces the original of your flash. This interface allows you to mount the flash on the Speed Grip and it has a TTL cable connector on either side. The Metz TTL cable comes in various lengths. I suggest you buy the shortest so you don't get the excess dangling about. Connect the cable between the two interfaces and now you have TTL control. There are instructions that come along with the two interfaces regarding the ASA setting on the Bronica and multiple TTL flash connections that can be expanded on the Metz. Good luck & happy shooting, Paul.
lawrence___
Hi Paul, First of all, thanks for your answer. I am sorry that I am still not very clear. I have seen the Bronica SCA interface/adapter which looks like a rectangular box. On the top, there is a circular dial (ASA setting). The questions are: 1) Should mount the flash or the adapter on the Speed Grip? 2) How the adapter and the Metz 40MZ flash connect together? I have asked the local distributor but the person there seems to be less familiar with the Bronica system than me. After a while, he said the adapter should use with handle mount Metz flash only. paul_chuah
Sorry Lawrence, maybe I wasn't too detailed with my explaination. OK, we'll do it step by step from here. 1) Detach the standard hot-shoe from your Metz flash. 2) Attach the Metz TTL adapter to the flash. 3) Then attach the standard hot-shoe to the bottom of the Metz TTL adapter. 4) Now with this whole structure set-up you can mount it on your Speed Grip. The remaining connection is the TTL cable between the Metz & Bronica adapter. I do not know if Bronica or Metz did modify their present day adapters but this was the set-up I use six years ago. On the safe side I would suggest you consult the Bronica dealer before going out to buy the expensive connectors. Otherwise, your Metz dealer could be right, the design could have changed and you may have to use the Metz power grip instead. All the best, Paul. I get youridea.
I would also like to thanks Mr. Youichirou Kuroda, from Tamron Co, Ltd.Japan, who gives me a very quick and helpful response after I ask him byemail.
In conclusion, to have TTL metering function with shoe mount flashs,an SCA 300E interface adapter and the SCA386 adapter are required.

SCA300E Adapter
Best Wishes,
Lawrence
