Seiko 1 Shutter size on fujinon 210-WS

I recently purchase a Fujinon 210-WS with a seiko 1 shutter. This is

an older version of the lens with a 58mm filter size, and writing on

the inside rather than outside of the front barrel. The shutter seems

larger than a copal 1 but smaller than copal 3. My question is does

anyone know what size hole to drill for this shutter size?

One other question about seiko shutters. I cannot open the shutter to

focus the lens without cocking the shutter. Is this normal? Further,

when I use the lever to open the shutter while it is cocked, the

shutter does not seem to open all of the way even at maximum aperature.

You can still see the very edges of the shutter when looking through

the lens, whereas if you open the lens with the bulb setting you cannot

see the edges. Is this shutter out of adjustment, or is this just the

way it was designed? Thanks in advance for the help. Eric

Eric, The preview on my Seikosha 0's works the same as what you're finding and it's about 1/2 and 1/2 on the blades retracting all the way in. Some do and some don't so sounds like nature of the beast. Things weren't as standardized in the '70's as now. I've found Congo 180's in Seikosha 0 that weren't 0! They were american thread. ie. you could have used those Seiko shutters with a Graphlex 135 Optar elements! So you could have anything although finding US threads instead of metric still seems wierd.

Seiko made some oddball size shutters that you almost never see. This reads like one of those. (#2 size) I don't know the dimension for the hole size and suggest you will have a good deal of difficulty trying to research it. Best thing is to just measure the shoulder of the retainer to get the diameter. Alternately send it along and I'll bore the hole and mount the lens. Price $15.00
