when scanning XP2 B&W negs with VueScan & Dimage III... is it better to do the scan as a B&W neg. or a c-41 color neg. Thanks.
Try color first. It is a color based film and should work with ICE. You might have to make corrections in Photoshop.
I've tried chromogenic films both ways, and it doesn't seem to make a difference. Perhaps the Dimage is different, but on my scanners ICE will work regardless of whether it's scanning in color or grayscale. Some people scan silver B&W in color. Can't see a difference there, either.
