borrel1
Any advice on scanning 8x10 Minox negatives in a Microtek Artixscan 120tf with Silverfast? What holder ? What sort of home made mask insert for 120 or 135 holders? Any advice or experience will be appreciated. - Brre Ludvigsen

I've scanned with an Epson 2450 and V700 by just laying the negatives, emulsion side down, on the scanning glass (after cleaning of course) and using VueScan to set the cropping to the area I wanted. I flip the image in Photoshop to get proper right to left orientation.

Godfrey
tom_halfhill
I have scanned subminiature negatives with some success by making thin cardboard inserts for 35mm film holders. I got the best results by using a dedicated 35mm film scanner. Even the best flatbeds won't make a sharp image from such a tiny negative.

borrel1
Thanks gentlemen, I'm making a thin cardboard insert for use in the medium format film holder of my ArtixScan 120tf. Will try to remember to post some results. - Børre
reportsfromluke
use the transparent sheets used for overhead projectors, cut a piece two times the width of the type of film the holder is. Fold the piece so the folded piece is the width of film the holder takes. With this folded piece cut as much as you need to place the minox film, held by the mask, but not between the fold. This way the scanner's light only needs to pass through one layer of film, not three... Basically, http://www.wonko.net/mnoxmask.html..with the mask made out of the plastic. Watch out for dust. best of luck.
