veronica_reeve
Hi, I'm doing some engagement photos and the bride-to-be wanted to know if there was any way I could print her photos with those scalloped edges like those cabinet cards from the late 1800s. Does anyone know a printer that prints photos with something similar? Any other ideas of where to look?
steve_swinehart
Do you want the edges of the paper to have deckle edges or the edges of the image to be scalloped? You can make the paper have deckle edges with a deckle edge ripper available from a number of sources. If you want the edges of the photos to be scalloped there are number of Photoshop plug-ins that will give that effect. If you want a plugin - search through this directory: http://photoshop.pluginsworld.com/plugin.php?directory=adobe&software=photoshop&category=
silverdae
If you want the physical print to have the edges, simply print the image as usual, then do the edges yourself. You can find scissors used in scrap-booking that are wavy, scallops, zig-zags, everything under the sun, for less than $10 a pop. Check craft stores and you'll find a surprising variety. If you want the image to have scalloped edges on a white (or whatever color) background and the physical print to be a regular edge, use photoshop. Create a new document in PS. Drag (or 'place') your image on the background you want to use. Add a layer mask to mask out the edges of the image to give you the scalloped look you want. Flatten and viola! You can add to this by adding a paper texture to your background then adding a slight drop shadow on your image layer. Double click the layer to bring up the layer effects dialog and it will give you lots of options.
