Sawtooth Edges on Inkjet Prints

Recommended Posts

Could anyone suggest books or other sources of info that would cover this phenomenon? Context : Raw

DSLR images(Nikon), Lightroom developed, printing on Epson 2400. Small(5"x7",8.5"x11", A3)prints

may show jagged, sawtooth edges on sharply imaged, straight, diagonal line details(side of glass

building), but in super large blowup(= to 20"x30" or even larger) jaggies are gone. I need a good

explanation of these types of phenomena; In 1 year of printing Nikon/Lightroom/Epson I never

encountered this effect until now..don't know if it's more subject dependent(the diagonal, sharp straight

lines, sharply resolved), lens dependent(doesn't sound credible), raw converter, etc and I haven't

knowingly changed any develop setting. Thanks for any suggestions you might have. -KB-

Yes, I've seen this. In my case it was a product of asking the Epson printer driver to resize the image rather than resizing to the correct size in PhotoShop before printing.
