Rolleiflex Rollei TLR Camera Strap

I would like to purchase a new camera strap for my rollei tlr camera. The op/tech super classic strap with pro loops looks like it might attach easily and securely to the strap posts on the camera. The replacement nylon strap for leica m cameras, with its funky connectors, looks like it might work. I would welcome comments from anyone who has used these straps on a rollei tlr camera. Thanks.
I use a neck strap made of nylon webbing and leather, with the Rollei alligator clips. I purchased from fotodiox on the big auction site. Or you can purchase directly from them.

The Leica strap (assuming you're talking about the basic nylon quick-release strap) works with a

normal strap lug - it won't stay on a Rolleiflex strap post. The Op/Tech loop connectors work best if you

loop them around the bracket through which the Rollei strap fits when it's clipped to the post, rather than trying to attach them to the post itself.
Gordy Coale sells a strap that

can be looped around the strap post. The attaching thread is waxed, so when pulled tight it tends to

resist coming loose.

Thanks for your comments and suggestions. The strap with alligator clips looks perfect for my 3.5f. Is the strap comfortable to wear around the neck? What is the length of the strap? I will see if I can locate one of the op/tech straps with loops in a local camera store to see how it works. Thanks again. Bill

I have the original strap for my Rolleiflex E2, with alligator clips. I don't dare use it though, because leather is subject to dry rot and can break without notice. An Op-Tech with pro loops slip through the slots with an half-hitch, and work just fine. You can still get Op-Tech straps with Hasselblad ends, but I've never seen modern straps with the Rollei hardware.

Thanks, everyone. There is a modern strap with rollei fasteners, Edward, available from an outfit called fotodiox (check out the picture of tlr with fotodiox strap above). You can't beat the price of the op/tech strap; yet I am drawn to the more expensive strap with aligator clips--easy on/off (I just haven't talked myself into spending fifty dollars--yet, that is). Thanks again to everyone.

In looking at the op/tech strap on-line, I noticed that one version features "pro loop" and another features a "uni loop." The pro loop is attached to the end of a 10" strap that attaches to the neck/shoulder strap; the uni loop, on the other hand, appears short in comparison to the pro loop. One strap, with the pro loop, costs $12.20; the other, with uni loop, costs $22.50. Off hand, I would say the more expensive one with the uni loop would be less in the way when detached from the neck/shoulder strap than the pro loop version. Which version of the strap do those of you who recommend it use? Thanks. Bill

I've been using my Rolleiflex 2.8E since I bought it used in the early '60s. About 12 years ago I thought my original leather strap was getting kind of ragged so I had a shoemaker remove the scissor clips from that strap and rivet them to a generic nylon one. A year or so later I bought a Domke "Gripper" strap and buckled that ton the cut-off ends of the plain nylon strap. That works very well. Of course we DON'T know that the OP's Rollei is an E, F, or T model that uses a strap with Rollei scissor clips which DON'T fit earlier models.

I think either version will work. I went w/the Pro Loop because it was cheaper. Works fine.

Well, guys... I lied.

I pulled out the box of Rollei stuff and it contains no straps. I know there were some, but I must have sold them.

On the bright side, there are lots of nice Rollei parts. I'll put some of them up.

Thanks, Gina. I like the design and look of the gordy straps. In the end, I purchased an op-tech strap with loops. While the strap works well, it is somewhat bulky and lacks the elegance and refinement of the original rollei strap. My rollei strap is still in one piece, but the leather is old, cracked, and worn, and I fear it might give out on me sooner rather than later. Thanks for the suggestion.
