len_smith
I have been using a Rolleiflex 6008i-based outfit for a few weeks now. It replaced a Hasselblad 503CX-based outfit. Having shot twoweddings with the 6008i I am very happy with the change. Now that I have decided to keep the 6008i, I am loking for a secondbody. I have been offered a 6002 with WLF, 120 back and 80mm Zeisslens, 120 back and charger at a good price. I would use the 6002 with only one lens for about 30% of my weddingshots, using the 6008i with two lenses for the remaining 70%. I havea 2.8GX as emergency back-up. My flash set up is the usual Metz 45CL-4 with SCA TTL adapter. What I need to know is how much interchangeability exists between the6002 accessories (finder, back, grip) and those from the 6008. Wouldthe 6002 be a good choice for a second body? Would the 6001, 6003 or6006 be a better choice? Any and all advice will be gratefully received. bob_the_builder1
You would be better with a 6003 or 6601. Skip tdhe 6002 it is a much older model. You can pick up 6003s SH very cheap nowadays.
jorge_jimenez1
The 6003 is compatible with most everything that works on the 6008. I agree that for a working man's backup you should get a 6003 and NOT a 6002. The lens open metering of the 6008 does not work on the 6002. Also your flash will work the same on the 6003. In fact the 6003 is a better wedding camera than the 6008 because you can preload the film inserts and swamp the very quickly and the 6008 back is bulky and of no use. You'd be better off with 2 6003's!
OCULUS New York
Yup, as a current model 6003 owner, I concur: go for the 6003, they can be had cheap. It only lacks the programability for studio work that the 6008 has. Otherwise, the meter is there and so is the handle. You can add a 220 back, but must also add a snap-in filmgate, as the 6003 only comes with 120 back, that is much more compact, but cannot be changed mid-stream (no slide). Otherwise, all your PQ and PQS lenses will work, and so will that $20K digital back of your dreams.... Cheers, Ray Hull PS: With 6008-style back and prism added, along with the Schneider 75-150 Vario : <img src=http://d6d2h4gfvy8t8.cloudfront.net/995697-lg.jpg>

larry_leung1
I got it very cheap, new, at $550. I use it as a back up to my 6008AF. Larry
len_smith
Thanks, everyone. It looks like the 6002 is out as a second body. But ... is the lens on the 6002 (80mm Zeiss Planar PQ) 100% compatible with the 6008i? I could still buy the outfit, sell the body (with 120 back, WLF and charger) to a friend who's interested, and keep the lens as a spare. The lens is near mint. The whole outfit has had very little use and had a full CLA in 2002. All thoughts welcome. Tony
OCULUS New York
Yup, the 80mm Planar IF PQ is fine for 6008, but those lenses are plentiful and if anything, you might want to search for the 2.0 Xenotar or a PQS to get ahead of the standard Plannar lens. Just a thought. Ray Hull
jorge_jimenez1
Just to be sure. If the 6002 has a PQ lens on it, it did not originally come with it. The 6002 lenses were the same as the SLX lenses and they are only usable stopped down on the 6008.
len_smith
Thanks Ray and Jorge. After careful thought I decided to buy a second 6008i body and PQS lens. Zero compatibility problems and I was offered one at a very good price from the dealer who sold me the first 6008i. Thanks to all who replied - your advice was extremely useful and I am grateful for all your time and effort. Tony
