kirt_carter
I recently purchased a nice Rolleiflex 2.8f at auction. Other than needing a brighter focusing screen (I ordered the Maxwell), I have had no issues. Yesterday I was looking up the serial number in the Evan's text and online and noticed that it really does not match the model exactly. The serial number is 2478xxx, which would indicate a Type II model with 220 frame counter. My body does not have the 220 capacity or counter so I was always under the assumption it was a Type I. Has anyone else experienced this oddity in serial numbers. Thanks
d_purdy
I think that there were options when buying a camera back then that you could have 220 or not. I used to have a 2479170 camera that had a white face and planar and didn't have the 220 switch. I think your camera should have the film transport that is ready to receive the 12/24 switch but you have to send it to Harry Fleenor to have it installed. Congratulations on getting a great camera.
Dennis
frank uhlig
Before modifying to 24 frame operation, make sure there is still some 220 format MF film around somewhere ...
peter_lee10
I'm guessing Kirt isn't planning on using 220 film but was querying the seemingly inconsistent spec in relation to the serial number. Actually I've never seen 220 film in Shanghai, do they still sell it elsewhere?
