mike_havis
I noted in an earlier post - that Dr. Mark Meijer (a great Rollei resource) had gone "radio-silent." I have had excellent dealings with him in the past and sent him an email inquiring if he was OK - with no response. Does anyone know what (if anything) has happened to Mark? calvin_lee
A couple of years ago, he was selling off loads of mint & collector quality Rollei stuff. I even bought some of it off of him. He seemed to be suffering from the "sky is falling" syndrome due to the digital onslaught, and was cashing out his chips. Who knows? Maybe he's out there shooting with a Canon EOS-1Ds MkII right now.:-(
jan_de_ridder1
There was quite an exchnge of notices on the Rollei newsletter on Dr. Meijer. Apparantly he "flew by night" leaving a number of "buyers" without promissed goods and money.... but again this is hearsay ....
fwstutterheim
There was a reliable report that appeared to be ill, shortly before he vanished.
jean-louis llech
A part of what happened to Mark Meijer is explained on this thread
As long as I will not have a valuable proof of a fraud, I will keep Mark Meijer as a very honest person, and I will trust him.
What literally upset me in this affair, is that everyone considered him to be guilty without even trying to know what had really happened to him.
I heartily thank Mr. Stutterheim for his answer, although what he wrote worries me about Mark's health, and I am also happy to see that I am not the only one not to condemn Mark Meijer.
mike_havis
Thank you all for your input. I had been very, very satisfied with my own transactions and interactions with Mark. It still seems that at the present time - that no one actually knows for sure what has happened with Mark. I am concerned for anyone who has been harmed by Mark's silence and non-action. But, I am equally concerned about Mark. Is he sick (or heaven-forbid - worse)? Is there anyone in CA that knows Mark and knows what is going on? tony_russell2
Here is my experience, perhaps this may help clarify the mystery. Subsequently I received legal papers inviting me to submit a claim to bankruptcy proceedings.
July 17, 2004

To Whom It May Concern

On April 21, 2004, after an agreement had been reached on the conditions, I consigned used photographic equipment consisting of:

Rolleiflex SL66 camera #2916022 with magazine #34492 and slide
Zeiss Plannar 2.8/80mm lens #536184 with front cap
Zeiss Distagon 4/40mm HFT lens #5652816 with both caps

to Dr. Mark Meijer, 345 N Oakhurst Dr., Apt A, Beverly Hills, CA 90210, to be sold on my behalf.

Dr. Meijer operates on the internet having several web sites including: eezy auctions (ebay Trading Assistant), Global Rollei Club (Rolleiflex specialists), Beverly Hills Luxury Goods (trading in luxury items) and Score International Beverly Hills (graphic design and publishing). Contacts: (310)273 5283, P.O. Box 18801, CA 90209-18801, and

The Distagon lens was sold in May directly to a Global Rollei Club member for $1,399.
The SL66 camera with the Plannar lens was sold on ebay through eezy auctions to ebay member also in May for $1,095.

Dr. Meijer acknowledges having collected both sums from the buyers. To date I have received false assurances that my cheque has been mailed out but no payment from him.

Dr. Meijer enjoys an almost untarnished reputation as an ebay Trading Assistant: the only negative feedback on his ebay profile was submitted by a buyer, ebay member , who didn’t receive his item nor his refund until he posted his feedback and only agreed to modify it after receiving his refund some months later.

Even though I am the principal seller, ebay does not recognize me as either a “buyer” or “seller”, having opted to use the services of a trading assistant to sell on my behalf and so I’ve forfeitted the right to post my feedback on eezy auctions’ ebay profile or to file a formal complaint with ebay.

This information is divulged out of concern about the impunity with which such acts are perpetrated. Should you share my concern please pass this on.
