mark_satola1
Anyone ever used or currently using the Rodenstock 127 from a Polaroid 110A on a 4x5 view camera? Wondering about coverage/movements.

mark_satola1
Thanks, glad I hadn't yet dropped the $ on it. Really, the prices for a 110A on eBay are pretty high, especially after what I just read. Obviously better to save a little more and buy something designed for the big camera. razzledog
Having had a lot to do with this lens/shutter assembly, perhaps I could pass on my opinion? The lens is a fine lens and even at close to FIFTY years of age, its performance is excellent, BUT forget about any movements. The old Prontor whilst very well made, tends to hang on speeds under 1/8th second. This can usually be rectified with a wash out, alternatively you could screw the elements directly into a Copal 0 shutter. The Ysarex has a shallow DOF and needs to be shut down considerably if you want to escape its rather nice Bokeh.....but at the price, it's a very good four element Tessar design lens, despite its lack of ability for movements. Remember the Prontor has no preview lever, so must be locked open on B with a cable release. What Fred wrote in 2002 was before the popularity of the 4x5 conversion and should be taken with a grain of salt... seems to me, the converted Polaroid is now in more demand than ever before, even when equipped with the Rodenstock Ysarex.
