tony_estcourt
Has anyone used the replacement focussing screens (marketed as Beattie Intenscreens in UK). They offer brighter screens than the standard Pentax but maybe this doesn't equate to easier focussing. <p> Also has anyone had Pentax replace the foam around the prism? many 2nd hand prisms that I have seen need this done. I know I could chop something together myself but I would prefer the manufacturer to do the job.
don_boyd1
Tony, I have a Beattie screen on my camera which I purchased used. I have not seen other Pentax 6x7s so don't know how it compares to the standard screens. I really enjoy the grid lines which help with composition. However, I have never been able to get a sharp focus through the viewfinder. Tempe Camera tuned it up and adjusted the mirror which helped some but the focus is still not sharp. I have considered replacing it with other aftermarket screens I have heard of like Brightscreen.
dave_hampton1
I made a request to Pentax in Colorado and they sent me the foam to attach to the prism about five years ago. It came with adhesive already attached to the foam. The foam attached readily and worked just fine. Caution, line it up carefully or you will have a stuck misaligned piece of foam.
