Reliable camera repairers in the UK

  1. Hi there, after many years I finally got given a Canon FTb QL that belonged to
my late dad. It has immense sentimental value and I would like to have it
looked at/serviced to then start using. I am based in Hampshire in the UK and
was wondering whether anyone can recommend somewhere in this country where I
can take/send the camera to. Any help greatly appreciated. Thanks, Fred.
  2. They are a long way from you, but Cameratiks in Edinburgh have always done a good job for me. I suspect there are nearer places (there must be some in London, anyway).

  3. Funny, I was thinking Cameratiks too but Tim beat me to it. They're the only camera repairers I've dealt with, but they're good, clearly know their stuff and (IMO) charge a reasonable price for the work they do. I don't know how much extra cost it would add to send the camera to them, but it might be worth giving them a call.
  4. Thanks Tim. I will see if anyone comes up with somewhere closer. If not I will contact Cameratiks. Fred
  5. Look in the UK photo magazines. At the back, they often have repairers that advertise. Or type 'UK Camera Repair' into Google.
  6. Thanks David (and AE Daly). However I would rather use a repairer someone recommended than one I found through an ad. I appreciate your help though! Fred
  7. I can strongly recommend Newton Ellis and Co in Liverpool who have done really good work for me in the past. You might enquire of Nicholas Cameras in Camden High Street to see if he can recommend anyone. He has the most amazing range of classic and modern stock imaginable and may well use a high quality repairer for servicing.
  8. Thanks to all of you. I will follow up on all your leads.
  9. Michael Spencer in Clay Cross. Phone 01246 250767. Super fellow. Please tell him Jon in Texas says "Hi." (
