Refurbished Pentax-FA 77/1.8 Limited lenses at Adorama

<p>Adorama has Pentax-refurbished 77/1.8 Limited lenses for $729.95. I bought one, arrived today. It was serial 0009xxx, Made in Japan, a warranty return (white spot in middle of element says the sticker on the box) from long ago, refurbished recently. Comes with a full warranty, of course.<br>

Considering you can't catch a used one for less than $630, this isn't a bad deal at all.<br>

Of course, they may not all be old Made in Japan lenses, although the premium for those is small.<br>

We all know what a wonderful lens this is...</p>

<p>What is the difference between a Limited lens made in Japan and one made in Vietnam?</p>

<p>The Japan lens is optimized for taking pictures of miso soup, while the Vietnam lens is optimized for taking pictures of phở soup. ;-)</p>

<p>There is no difference in the design no matter where it's made. Some folks think that quality control slipped on some Pentax lenses when production was moved to Vietnam. I have no opinion one way or the other, and know that Japanese manufacturers understand quality control so much better than US manufacturers that it's not funny...</p>
