Reducing Canon DSLR shutter noise- FYI

For anyone interested, I've "discovered" that putting a body armor rubber skin on my 5D is a relatively easy way to reduce the shutter volume. Also helpful is using a solidly-constructed lens (e.g. metal mount rather than plastic mount). There are of course downsides- the rubber skin makes the controls on the body feel less responsive and adds a slight amount of bulk, but if you're shooting in a quieter environment it's not a bad solution.

I bought a body armor skin for my XTi and though I like the protection it gives, it seems to attract a lot of dust on the skin. I am VERY careful when changing lenses so as not transfer that dust to the inner parts of the camera. Just a word of caution!
