amol
Hi everyone,My brother ordered a Rebel Ti from Adorama. He was looking for a budget-priced SLR, so being a Canon user I suggested the Rebel Ti. He got it today, while looking at the features he noticed a rattling noise. He brought it to me to figure out, I looked and shook it slightly. I found that one of the hinges that connect the pop-up flash to the camera seems loose, but the screw itself is tight. The hinge just seems to have a lot of play in it. It makes a slight rattle whether the flash is up or down. Does anyone have experience with this? Though my brother is not a camera-freak, he was a little annoyed. I told him it was not "that" big of a deal, but that maybe he might want to exchange it. (*If it was my camera, I would probably exchange*). I don't want him thinking that Canon cameras are pieces of junk. So if all Ti's do this, then I (he) can deal. If not, I will suggest that he call Adorama. What do you think? Thanks, Amol
hyunyu
It's normal, my Rebel Ti that I used to own did the same. The flash support braces are loose when the flash is not popped up.
mark u
The Rebel Ti also contains an orientation sensor that is used by the evaluative exposure system to decide which part of the image might consist of "sky" or "white wall" in an interior. This sensor may also be the source of rattling. Incidentally, this means that the exposure system is fooled by images which are dark at the top and light at the bottom (e.g. a pavement in sunlight under overhanging eaves in shadow). Such images need either compensation or the use of partial metering from a midtone (so easy to do in creative zone modes with the * button).
