sean_birnie
Hello
I have a Shen Hao PTB45 and one of the knobs you need to turn in order to unfold the camera has locked tight. I have tried loosening it with WD40 but have had no luck. Someone has recommended I try using a mole or locking grip. Does anyone have any experience of a similar problem? I'm concerned this might damage it, if it's a crossthread.
Any help greatly appreciated.
Thanks a lot.

BrianS1664879711
Uuugggh... That doesn't sound good. If lubricant didn't help try some heat on the knob. I'm assuming brass on brass, right? Heat will expand the knob more than the shaft and may break it free. Whatever you do, go at it gently but persuasively. Whatever that means, right. Unfortunately, I it is cross threaded the damage is already done for the most part... So start gentle and advance in terms of aggressiveness only when the gentle approaches fail. Good luck! ... sean_birnie
Aluminium alloy, according to the Shen Hap website.
Thanks for your reply... I've ordered a locking grip (local hardware shop, which recommended one, didn't stock any) so I'll give it a go tomorrow.
>Whatever you do, go at it gently but persuasively. thirteenthumbs
Sometimes when tightening a knob it takes 10 times more force to loosen it than was used to tighten it. I would wrap the knob with a rubber jar opening aid and give it a go. If you cannot loosen it by hand then use a pair of pliers or similar.
