Question about the 18-200

  1. I am concerned about the
Canon EF-S 18-200mm f/3.5-5.6 IS Autofocus Lens for Select Digital SLR

The zoom drops out if I lower the camera and it sits back if I point it up. Its very annoying. Is this common for this lens or is my one having some defect?
    Thanks for letting me know.
  2. My Father's 18-200 also does that.
  3. This is not uncommon with zooms without a lock to do what you have described. I have a Sigma lens that does that - very annoying! You just have to get used to it and avoid pointing it up or down unless you are holding the barrel.
    Cheers, Bob
  4. My new Tamron 18-270 does this as well. Most annoying.
  5. Very common and very annoying. Mine does that too.
    Best regards
  6. I had a Tamron 18-200 that did not slip, but it did have a lock! Go figure.
  7. +1 for the sigma version, zoom creep.
  8. And this issue is not confined to "cheaper" zooms, my Canon 24-105 does this, as well.
