rockyroad
This is my first purchase into the Quantum Battery packs with no prior knowledge whatsoever. I bought a used Quantum batteries QB 1+ and later a QB 1 since expecting to take pictures of family events since I got tired of changing batteries ( actually trying to copy my neighbor and to looks more professional as if knowing what I am doing). Both had lighted battery as seen before I bought them and both came with a charger unit. I ended up not using it for months. The battery light is no longer green as if the battery has drained. I tried to charge both QB batteries for 12 hours at least and both seems not to take in any juice. There was no light showing up in the battery capacity check lights. My first question is "Do I have to use the correct charger that is an original Quantum Battery charger or can I use a regular 9V charger unit? - One came with a regular charger & hand written " QB1 " on the charger. Secondly, " Were both of these QB Battery working item in the first place, since they had green light up to full charge as it appeared on the battery check indicator? " I did not check or tested them sicne I did not have the correct module cable for the flash. Now I have everything I need and the battery is drained. Now, I am not sure if the battery was working in the first place. Battery light showed battery had a full charged as originally seen, now I can't even get it to charge. I think I need to get the manual instruction on how to use these things. Your help is appreciated.
bruce_rubenstein
The QB 1 uses a Nicad battery pack. An old battery can show a "full charge", because the indicator is based on the voltage of the battery. The battery, however, can still be worn out and only give a few flash pops. This could have been the case when you first got the QB 1. Now it's just dead and you need to get the Nicad pack replaced. Give Quantum a call to find out how much they charge to recell it. todd_phillips1
Sounds like the battery was kaput to begin with. I bought one like that..... Time to send it in to Quantum (and send the chargers as well, because they go bad too). Quantum does an excellent job of refit on these batteries. I've had a couple done, including my most used Turbo battery and they are like new (Quantum checks and fixes EVERYTHING). Certainly cheaper than buying a brand new battery.
