Rob_L1664876404
I will confess up front to having gone cheap on the tripod. I don't use one that much and, when I do, weight doesn't matter. Now, with that said, does anyone know who makes Quantaray tripods and/or where small replacement parts can be had? I was told that Sigma had something to do with the tripods (they apparently make the Quantaray lenses), but can find no reference anywhere. Any info would be appreciated. Thanks, Rob
art_haykin
Could be anybody. Quantaray is a re-branded name, and they bought products from many makers. Personally, I'd steer clear of junk products, especially tripods.
gary_watson
Consider the cost of the Quantaray as tuition. It taught you to buy Manfrotto next time.
bob_katz1
Quantaray - rhymes with "throw away"...
brenda_mcdonald
Rob, Not sure where you got it from, but around here Ritz Camera sells Quantary products and may be able to offer assistance. Good luck.
Rob_L1664876404
Thanks for the reality check, everyone. I think I'll fabricate the one non-critical missing part and put a "real" tripod on my wish list.
k._rivkin
Well, for me the main purpose of tripod is to hold something on top of it, why it should have manfrotto or brotto written over it is beyound me. Yes qa is junk, but hey it works if there is no wind... Which part is missing ?
Rob_L1664876404
K.R. The missing part is just the little pressure pad under the screw that locks the horizontal supports on the center tube. The tripod is very useable without it and, when I have time, I'll fabricate one from a nylon block. In the long run, I still want to find something that's less bulky and that I can get parts and service for in the future.
mark_s.2
Likely a few years too late for you, yet for anyone else who stumbles upon this Q/A they can find the replacement part at: http://www.tripodquickrelease.com/Quantaray_Titan_II_Quick_Releases.htm
nicole_foster
Mark S. left a response with a link. Likely too many years later for one person but just in time for me! Thanks for the link! I found the part to my Quantaray Titan II just as I was getting ready to throw it away.
