brandonhamilton
Hey all, I have PS CS, and for some strange reason, when i open an NEF raw file, I no longer get my normal raw editor where I can adjust color, exposure, shadows etc. All I get is an odd looking generic window wiht a baby blue background that only has my camera model, image side, exposure comp, and white balance. It also has a tiny thumbnail to work with. What the heck did I click?<div></div>
kirk_thompson
Looks like your old Nikon editor has wiggled into the Startup line ahead of ACR.
brandonhamilton
I don't have an "old nikon editor". I have capture 4.1.2, and it works fine by itself. Iv already tried unstalling caputre completely, and even removing all registry entries I can find, as well as reinstalling photoshop... no dice. grant_.
close photoshop, goto the photoshop folder on the hard drive. find the plugins folder then the file formats folder...take out Nikon YCC TIFF file and Nikon NEF Plugin file, put them on your desktop in case you wanna use em again....this will get you back to ps cs's raw converter...restart photoshop
fotografz
Grant is a Nikon guy, do what he says. I use to have the same problem with my D1-X. The Nikon RAW developer would open the minute I inserted a CF card. According a recent post from Grant, the Nikon RAW developing program has been improved since I used it, so you might want to explore using it since it has RAW batching. robert_ardinger
This happens when you install or update Nikon View. It installs the Nikon Plug-in and that will open before (actually instead) of Camera Raw. Taking out the NEF plugin from the plug in folder will solve the issue but when you update to the next version of View (whenever it is released) it will likely happen again. shawn_mertz
Brandon, your PS CS converter looks like the one for the D70. Have you downloaded the RAW converter update from Adobe in the last couple months? It looks like like you have the newer strpped down version. rich_dutchman1
Ah, so that's how it's done. Thanks Grant. I figured the problem was with the Nikon View software, so I simply uninstalled Nikon View since I never use it anyway, and that got me back the convertor. Really weird how that happens. brandonhamilton
That didn't work. I removed every single file from Photoshop\Plug-Ins\File Formats And the same editor comes right back.
