Printing one image spread across multiple sheets

Discussion in 'Digital Darkroom' started by tom_eldred, Apr 2, 2006.

  1. I've been looking for an effective method for printing one digital
image across multiple sheets of paper (ie: one image on a 3x3 grid). I
use the Epson 2200 connected to the Mac w/ Photoshop CS. No RIP to
    speak of.

Until now I have considered actually cutting the image up in
photoshop, but this seems both tedious and unnecessary if there are
    established software solutions.

Any suggestions? Your help is very much appreciated.
  2. ImagePrint can do this. They call it tiling.

Qimage can also do this essentially automatically. I think they call it poster printing...
  4. Thanks for your suggestion! Imageprint looks like a fantastic program, but anyone happen to know of a solution under USD$950? Naturally the less the better. Some open source software perhaps? Still lookin'
  5. Can you get your hands on a copy of Photoshop 7? An old copy of Quick Edit Tiff filter, which came with PS 5.0 I think, (last supported in PS 7) does it quite nicely and is pixel for pixel accurate. I've done it dozens of times.

Another option is to use an action. Are your images always the same size?

Qimage is, if I remember correctly, under $50. It is certainly under $100, and it is a better printing utility than Photoshop. Just as another reason to buy it, it will permit you to print to many more paper sizes than Photoshop will, and its upsampling algorithms are better than Photoshop's. Check it out - I think it's the answer to your problem.
  7. Tom.

I emailed you an action that I wrote that does 3X3, 4X4 and 5X5 images. Any size image will work.

  8. Will's action has proven to be pretty helpful, thanks man. And thanks everyone for your other great solutions!

  9. Hi: I'm having the same issue as Tom. Would it be possible to get those actions you
mentioned? I'm using Photoshop 7 (Mac). Thanks.
