Precision Photo

<p>Wow, I was tempted to post something like this too.</p>

<p>On August 13 I ordered a few small parts from Precision/Boca Photo and have not received anything yet. Sent an email inquiry with no reply. I paid with PayPal and the transaction was completed the same day I placed the order.</p>

<p>They've been recommended many times as the place to go for small camera parts, but I've never seen any feedback here on photo.net. Didn't even think to check resellerratings since they seem to be the main place to get parts from.</p>

<p>I bought some stuff from them years ago with no problems. Delivery was a little slow, but not terrible.</p>

<p>These guys were originally in Florida, but moved to Michigan 3 or 4 years ago.</p>

<p>I think when they were in Florida they actually had a store, or at least an office. I think it might just be someone working out of their garage now.</p>

<p>I have purchased bits and pieces from Boca Photo a few times and received reasonably prompt service (to Canada) but that was probably at least 18 months ago. It would appear that their customer service has slipped considerably to the point of being deplorable. Makes you wonder if perhaps ownership has changed hands (the "Precision Photo" name is fairly recent I think).</p>

<p>And no Steve, they are not, and never were AFAIK, located in Brooklyn. :-)</p>

<p>This is testing my memory, and I may be completely out to lunch and thinking of an entirely different company, but I think they relocated from Florida to Michigan a couple of years ago.<br>

<em>(I was editing my response when Kevin's response was posted, but at least I know my memory hasn't failed me. :))</em></p>

<p>Maybe you'd also like to buy a bridge I own in Brooklyn? Have you seen Abe's profile here on PN? They're scoundrels and thieves at best. The NY Attorney General's office has a slightly differing opinion of them as well.</p>

<p>Abe's of Maine is in NJ and is a BBB Accredited Business with an A+ rating. They're resellerratings.com rating is 9.19. There is another business called Abe's Camera and Electronics that is in Brooklyn and may or may not be a ripoff. They are not listed with the BBB or resellerratings.com. People may be confusing the two.</p>

<p>I have ordered small camera pars from Precision/Boca photo few months back. The item which I ordered was out of stock but the guy I talked to told me that they will charge my card when it will be shipped. After few weeks I called again to check if the parts available and he said they are shipping it that same day. After few days received my order in perfectly fine condition.</p>

<p>I finally received my order of August 13, 2010 on September 25 - only after filing a claim with PayPal, calling and sending numerous emails. I had actually requested through both email and PayPal communication that the order be canceled and my money refunded.</p>

<p>There was no explanation or apology offered for the poor service. </p>

<p>For the love of god <em><strong>DON'T DO IT</strong></em>! I have had a little dance with eric gottlieb of Precision Photo/bocaphoto just recently. Well the dance consised of myself because he charged my credit card (Paypal thankfully) and then refused to answer phone calls or emails requesting "where are the parts I ordered". Paypal never did receive any responce from him either. The trick with paypal is file your "dispute" and then 48 hours later escalate it to a "request for refund". Let that simmer for 10-14 days (he will not respond, gauranteed) and then send an email to paypal through the resolution center directing them that you have waited long enough, give them the link to "resellerratings.com". I followed these steps and was refunded within 36 hours from Paypal. Scum like this should never be able to conduct business, it gives all the small / internet stores a very bad name. If I were paypal I'd suspend / close his buyers account and flag his name and the business names he operates under.<br>

I see he is listed and seems to be doing ok on ebay, guess thats the only feedback forum he worries about........give him time though........give him time.</p>
