Stunning work by Robert and Ben : hats off !
Things are very hectic in my life, no time to go out on a shoot, or any deliberate mission. In January my first exhibition will be held. Then I’m starting up a new business leasing artistic photo’s by dutch artists. Then I have a few birthdays coming up, and is my eldest daughter coming over from Ireland, to join us for a skiing holyday in Austria. In between my car is breaking down, as well as the washingmachine, ànd I have two leakages to deal with. And oh yes, I have an ordinary job as well…. And still trying to beat the flu….
But ofcourse I do take my camera along anywhere, so here’s some of my snapshooting.

At the local tax-office…. It’s obvious what they do with my money ! (this is straight from the camera)

In the backyard, got some crates lined up for shipping to Surinam.

At the hospital. Titled: man’s victory over nature ? 

Nice work guys.
My first pic is sort of a drive-by shooting ice/snow storm after affect of some historical significance. Gas topped out at about $4.50 a gallon in our neck of the woods this summer. I do not think the current price will stay this low for long nor ever be this low in the future.

00RnJv-97535784.JPG.95202cfb1a52e237472fb412c65e9a8b.JPG

Bob - Wonderful winter landscapes. The 3 lake shots are amazing. I like "bridge reflections" best. The combination of foreground and background subject matter united by the reflection in the water is very well framed and captured.

Dave - interesting lighting in the first and unique perspective in the third. I like the second shot best - a very well captured moment with amazing colors.

O'Shiva - your sharp, superb images continue to amaze me - the PP is always delightful. Love the detail in all 3. The lighting in the first makes it my favorite.

Ben - where can I buy one of those Christmas prints? That is a gift someone will enjoy and treasure.

Robert - Kudos on those landscapes. I like the lighting and simplicity of the second best. Well done.

Here are a few shots from me. This past week we produced the video, lighting and audio for a very large musical, converting Mile One Centre (a large hockey arena) into the stage for the largest local broadway show ever produced in Newfoundland. A huge cast, world class performers and thousands of delighted viewers every night. In the following photos you'll see exagerated noise from the fog produced by the hazers for the lighting....

00RnL3-97545584.jpg.a3633ef8a7e1248c91be1a849d6801d6.jpg

Not much just for fun photography for me these past two weeks. It's been mostly about family Holiday card photos and portraits. Here's one from my younger sister's family. Getting a five year old boy to not give "the face" for a formal portrait is such a challenge. This afternoon I'm off to Ft. Worth to shoot the other half of the family with about 14 in a group portrait. It's like herding cats...

Bob, I love the winter scenes. Since it's about 74F and muggy in Dallas today I appreciate the change. They are very pastoral and peaceful which will be the antithesis of this afternoons family portrait session.

/Roger

00RnQZ-97587584.jpg.045ee54fffb44f750f077c3fe28d52d8.jpg

These were taken with the Kiron 28mm f/2 in the other thread. RAW and converted using UFRAW and then sharpened using Gimpshop.

As I noted in the captions on flickr, this was largely to test these programs for "light" image editing on a netbook. There is no way in hell I would use this little 8.9in screen to do any major edits. However, if you're at someones house (or otherwise have access to a full size monitor), you could hook a USB keyboard, mouse, and monitor up to this little guy and have a powerful enough machine to do some serious edits as this thing never got bogged down.

I'm not in love with UFRAW, but it is FAST. I could put lightroom on this machine, but honestly it would probably be like waiting for dry paint to get drier. For basic, RAW to web conversion, this package works fine. Total cost $0! Add in a lens that I could still find no major CA or ghosting issues with outdoors (even at 100%) and this is a nice high quality budget setup!

I took mk K10D, two hotshoe flashes and stands, and a pair of 16" white paper lanterns (known as "china ball"s in cinematography circles) to the Harbour City Photo Club's christmas party.
Here's a link to the results (page 2 through 8):

Dave, I love the early December shot, really well done. Ben, i like the flower shot. Oshiva, the color in the first shot is really cool. Duane, that looks like quite a production but I bet it was fun. Bob and Justin, cannot tell you how jealous I am of people who live in areas that still have REAL winters. The shots are great. I so hope we in Philly get some inches, feet! of snow this year. The last several have been duds! I know there is a three shot limit on this post but since this one doesn't seem to be too busy, I'd like to add one from this morning.

00RnVO-97625584.jpg.7a097f5cafd7d3f38e5b8446b53d0dd1.jpg
