Nice start Justin!
Here are my three from today. I Will simply title the series....''Only in L.A.''

Not much from me this past week except for this one shot. Anybody else get this? That's Venus behind a crescent moon. It was taken last May 16 - Sunday. Unfortunately, I only had a 200mm so this pic doesn't really do it justice. With the naked eye, you can see the dark side of the moon clearly defining the round shape. First time for me.

Justin, your "passing through" is my "weeks of planning".... :-)
Javier, Only in LA: The first one I can see in Denver (in the areas I populate) the other two.... that's ALL LA.

One entry for me this week. Shot while we were discussing day-for-night shots in another thread. I've really noticed this week that no matter how fast I run, my past and who it makes me are RIGHT behind me, even in this shot. My shadow will always be there, reminding me not to make the same mistakes thrice.

This one is a pretty amazing photo to me.
I was invited in to the birth of a friends first child. Oscar is 40 minutes old here, and to me, the look on his face is close enough to his first smile :-)
It's not a spectacular bridge, and I didn't catch the dark side of the moon, but it's always going to be a special shot to me now!
Great photos everyone. I particularly love the cheeky bum shot Javier! I've never even attempted photography like that!

00WWKt-246317584.jpg.b9d120533470da89098ebcd968599692.jpg

Wow Justin. We were cruising around when this shot came to mind / Sunset Silhouette K10D / 1/180sec / f5.6 / ISO 100 / fl 34.0

wow only in LA indeed Javier... what in the world is going on in the 3rd shot??? speechless...

Justin- using a polarizer at night... I don't think I've seen that before... interesting use. I didn't think you could see the difference in the viewfinder with that low level of light...
Jeremiah- I like the lighting on your shot.
Bob- that's a great candid... very movie-esque...
I only have one shot this week taken with my k10d, the others I have are with my wife's Canon A480, so not sure if it's cool to post those shots here in this forum...
Anyways this was taken on top of the Ravenal Bridge that connects Charleston to Mt. Pleasant in South Carolina.

Justin: flat out cool! I love night shots and that's one of the best I've ever seen.
Howard: The first shot is really nice, love the red. The RULE of THIRDS fanatics will go crazy but who cares. As for the In the Carriage duo, they're friends of yours I assume?
Rebecca: at the 40 minute mark, how nice! They will treasure that forever.
I did very little this week between the weather and the end of the school year so these are just a few taken over the past couple of weeks.

00WWNU-246347584.jpg.a25e12de6ccf4b743b51309dfd0d9c8c.jpg

From the Ride of Silence, a bike tour in honor of people who have been injured or killed in bicycle accidents. I narrowly escaped death in such an accident many years ago. Nice to see people promoting safety.

Pentax K200D, 35mm Takumar, 1/2500, f/8 (est), ISO 400.

Photo was made by scaling a small brick pillar, and hanging onto some scaffolding that was a big lamp post. I liked the patterns of the brick and asphalt on the street below. I was able to make several good photos that day; mostly because I had familiarized myself with some good setup locations the weekend before.

00WWR9-246385584.jpg.f814da364dda2f4a7d835bf85efc49f7.jpg

Great stuff everyone, especially the beautiful shots taken in THE SUN! Our long weekend is cold, cloud, wind and rain (even a little of the white stuff this morning). Not going outside. Hence the newly potted Matha Washingtons on the front porch. K20D, SMC 50mm f4.0 Macro, 1/60, f11.0, T/MU.

00WWSm-246403584.jpg.9b0c3db49a7573aa13ac05a1e8968f27.jpg

State Champions!

The Washington State Math Is Cool championships were held in Moses Lake yesterday. Students from 4th-6th grade across the state competed in day-long individual and group problem solving, ending in a “College Bowl” type of public competition for each grade. To get here, these teams topped regional rounds held last month.

I’m proud to report that the Island 4th grade team earned the 1st place championship. My son Sasha is on the left. We’re still buzzing about it.

I’ll also throw in that coincidentally the three boys are helping lead the youth baseball team I coach to a 6-2 record atop the league at the half-way mark. You gotta love ‘em.

ME

Two shot series - a family of geese and goslings decided to get away from me and into the lake. One little gosling ran out on the pier instead, and wasn't quite sure how to rejoin is family:

00WWVy-246439684.jpg.e37a03ba9fddf4189d1dfbe23e828709.jpg

Rebecca - Congratulations on the great first smile. Absolutely beautiful wonderful shot. One of my best friends just had their second boy yesterday. I wasn't as lucky to be invited to the birth. I'm just hoping that I can get a session set up once they get home.
