Picking Christmas Tree. Pentax K5IIS. 18-55
Every year the elves around our Biology Department decorate Trees and auction them off for charity. Here are a few from this year:

Matt, your dog there is practically invisible in the snow. Really love the sunrise shot. Nice brokah in the Helios
Patrick-my sentiment exactly. Question though, how cold do you feel that your equipment can manage? I might go visit a family member in Alberta and it would be useful to know what it can actually handle. With the old K1000 it was basically worring about the film breaking.

Rick, looks pretty relaxing. Enjoy yourself!

@Douglas Stemke Well, Ricoh says the K-70 can be used down to -10C (around 14F) so let that be your guide. That's pretty cold, and I'd guess that it might even be conservative on Ricoh's part. I do know it was around 24F when I was out in the snow Saturday, and all went well.

Thanks Douglas! She is our little snow beast! :)
Even though you didn't ask me, I've used my K-3 and 645D down to -28 F which is colder than I care to be out in for very long. I quit before the gear did! I think the temp ratings are the same across most modern bodies. Rotate batteries to warm pockets when they get cold and you should be fine.

Forgive my incredulity, but where on Earth are you experiencing -28F? I'm not sure I've ever been to a place that gets THAT cold. Or did you mean Celsius?

The town I live in, Gunnison, Colorado! :)
I took this photo last year when it was -25 (yes, I'm talking Fahrenheit) in town and colder as we went down to the lake. The truck thermometer was broken but I bet it was somewhere around -25 to -30. High for the day might hit 0 but not always.
We get these big inversions here where you can drive 30 Miles and be 40 degrees or more warmer. Clear and cold. If you spit, it bounces. Typically we get 1 to 2 weeks of that pattern a year.
Coldest I have seen was in 2004 when it was -38! Nothing works when it is that cold.
