hinman Posted January 5, 2014 Share Posted January 5, 2014
Happy New Year to you all. Patrick, thank you in starting the POTW.

#1 Sunset at daily bus station
<a href=" src="http://farm6.staticflickr.com/5494/10848396474_ffaee94ef6_b.jpg" alt="" />
K-5 and my re-purchased zoom Pentax FA 28-105mm f/3.2-4.5 that I like for its small size

2. Placer Court Museum in Auburn
<a href=" src="http://farm4.staticflickr.com/3667/11619034644_2f786778ed_b.jpg" alt="" />
Sony A7 and Sigma 60mm f/2.8 (an aps-c lens) with slight crop and vignette correction in LR

3. Kodak Retina DKL mounted lenses
<a href=" src="http://farm4.staticflickr.com/3738/11333974735_4cc939df59_b.jpg" alt="" />
The Kodak Rentina uses DKL mount and there are adapters available to convert DKL to M42 and Pentax K mount. What you see in the above picture is a Schneider Xenar 45mm f/2.8 pancake with DKL to M42 and M42 to K mounted on my K-5. The DKL to M42 or K adapters are small in size, the overall setup is still pancake like. Cost of the lens is about $40, the adapter is about $30. The best Kodak Retina lenses by Schneider is the Xenon 50mm f/1.9 which is a small prime in chrome color -- very good looking if you manage to find a good copy.

Please allow me to show few more pictures on the inexpensive DKL mounted lenses that can be adapted to Pentax digital bodies. I prefer M42 as I can use 'A' mode without much a problem

<a href=" src="http://farm4.staticflickr.com/3696/11524454333_478b283cc1_b.jpg" alt="" />
Kodak Retina IV with Xenar 45mm f/2.8 pancake

<a href=" src="http://farm8.staticflickr.com/7438/11375286746_d593058f04_b.jpg" alt="" />
Schneider Xenon 50mm f/1.9 mounted on A7 next to Xenan 45mm f/2.8 pancake on Kodak Retina IV
Link to comment Share on other sites More sharing options...

bob_marz Posted January 5, 2014 Share Posted January 5, 2014
I call this one: "Color Coordination" .
My wife, ever the fashion bug, has to have matching garments even when snow shoeing. She has the bright red breathable parka and you have to have matching shoes, snow shoes that is. Then there's the reddish, burnt orange scarf.
I'm not quite sure how she managed to pull off the matching red trail markers though.

Link to comment Share on other sites More sharing options...

MattB.Net Posted January 5, 2014 Share Posted January 5, 2014
My local ski resort, Crested Butte has a torchlight parade (skiers with flares) and fireworks for New Years eve. I skied up the mountain across the valley to get this shot. It was a bit of an effort but I'm pleased with the results.
K-3 & DA 40
20s f/8 ISO 800
<a title="IMGP3234-Edit by MattB.net, on Flickr" href=" src="http://farm4.staticflickr.com/3822/11681139325_853bc3f309_z.jpg" alt="IMGP3234-Edit" width="640" height="426" />
.
Honda in the moonlight
K-3 & DA 40
<a title="IMGP3333-Edit by MattB.net, on Flickr" href=" src="http://farm8.staticflickr.com/7317/11745906405_0af54700a2_z.jpg" alt="IMGP3333-Edit" width="426" height="640" />
.
Finally, a fun ski day with my friends at Silverton mountain yesterday. michael_elenko Posted January 5, 2014 Share Posted January 5, 2014
Matt,
You've got it.
Please do not give away that first shot. Print it large, professionally, and sell it for a tidy amount of money. It's very special, looks like a railroad model town crossed with a live-action animation. I'm sure some folks will think you 'Shopped the thing.
I've really enjoyed seeing your vision develop here.

ME
Link to comment Share on other sites More sharing options...
MattB.Net Posted January 6, 2014 Share Posted January 6, 2014
Thanks Michael, I have been having fun bbut working hard at this and I appreciate the kind words. That shot is already successful from a business perspective and I think there is more to come. I'm excited to plan the next one!
Link to comment Share on other sites More sharing options...
garry_young1 Posted January 6, 2014 Share Posted January 6, 2014
Long time no post for me - most likely won't even be remembered by most. :)

Just one shot for me for the new year. Shot deep in the bowels of an abandoned monastery here in Taiwan. The monastery was severely damaged in an earthquake. Now it is off-limits as it is leaning over precariously on the side of a mountain. But a great and spooky experience to fling fire in it's depths. Shot on a K20 with 16-45:

Link to comment Share on other sites More sharing options...
