henkc Posted January 12, 2014 Share Posted January 12, 2014
I always get confused with the formatting of dates, but I think I got that one right. For me it would normally be 12/1/2014 or 2014-01-12.
We spent the past week on a farm called Poplar Grove in the Karoo Region of South Africa. This is a large semi-arid area occupying a large part of the interior of the country.
Photographically, this was as much getting to grips with the K-3, as it was an opportunity to photograph one of my favourite parts of the country.

Shot with the 16-45, with moonlight as the only source of light.

Also with the 16-45.
And finally, the poplar grove itself.

Link to comment Share on other sites More sharing options...

MattB.Net Posted January 13, 2014 Share Posted January 13, 2014
Nice work this week!
I tried to photograph the aurora which was supposed to be visible in Colorado last week. I got up at 4:00 one morning and went out to a nice dark location, set up, and shot. No aurora. But fortunately I didn't come home empty handed.
K-5 & DA 15, 103 exposures (over about an hour) stacked.
<a title="IMGP8944-IMGP9047-Edit by MattB.net, on Flickr" href=" src="http://farm4.staticflickr.com/3759/11865252013_01ffb86de4_z.jpg" alt="IMGP8944-IMGP9047-Edit" width="640" height="424" />
.
It was nice once the sun came up too. I was afraid the formation called The Castles would never emerge from the could bank, but it just peek out a little before being engulfed again.
K-3 & DA* 60-250
<a title="IMGP3505-Edit by MattB.net, on Flickr" href=" src="http://farm8.staticflickr.com/7442/11881997485_cfe72e5818_z.jpg" alt="IMGP3505-Edit" width="640" height="426" />
.
Those storms made for some great powder skiing. We even got a rare sunny powder day at Crested Butte!
K-3 & DA 18-135
<a title="IMGP3614 by MattB.net, on Flickr" href=" src="http://farm4.staticflickr.com/3743/11900743225_b0f7c21bf6_z.jpg" alt="IMGP3614" width="426" height="640" />
Link to comment Share on other sites More sharing options...
