Lost a couple of better photos due to a computer (or operator) glitch, but took this after these guys came over

for a visit a few weeks ago.

Most of mine were on a monopod and a few handheld. However, I have been realizing the need for a tripod since you frequently crop down long shots. A Great Egret is so big that you don't need it. But smaller birds require alot of cropping. Also, when you put a 2x extender in there it amplifies any vibration or movement. I just bought a CF Giottos with a Vangard head yesterday for $585 total. That's not a lot for a "birders" tripod.
