john_clayton1
Lost a couple of better photos due to a computer (or operator) glitch, but took this after these guys came over for a visit a few weeks ago. <a href="http://www.flickr.com/photos/jcclayton/2701339083/" title="IMGP1625 by ladsports, on Flickr"><img src="http://farm4.static.flickr.com/3259/2701339083_2e52450b08.jpg" width="486" height="419" alt="IMGP1625" /></a>

rose_duclos
After seeing all the good 300mm pics that have been posted these last few days - It's working itself onto my list of eventual 'must have' lenses... :) Are you guys using tripods with these pics? brad_n
Most of mine were on a monopod and a few handheld. However, I have been realizing the need for a tripod since you frequently crop down long shots. A Great Egret is so big that you don't need it. But smaller birds require alot of cropping. Also, when you put a 2x extender in there it amplifies any vibration or movement. I just bought a CF Giottos with a Vangard head yesterday for $585 total. That's not a lot for a "birders" tripod. shots worth sharing
Yunh-hunh, is so a duck, Brad. Well, ok, it's a floating sack of potatoes--but it sort of *looks* like a duck, don't it? ;~) Hand-held, Rose--there was a ton of light and the birds weren't all that far.
