christos_theofilogiannakos
I 've been looking for a compact short zoom (35-70) for my Fujica STX-1 camera. I have come across the Fujinon 35-70 2.8-3.7 zoom lens a couple of times, but the price tag is always a bit high for my standards. A widely available alternative (at least on the german eBay site) is the Porst 35-70 (3.5-4.5) lens. Any idea as to who made the lens or its performance?
I've come across two variations (one-touch and two-touch):

christos_theofilogiannakos
Somehow you need to open the images in a separate tab to see them. Here's the two-touch:

markus maurer
Porst is/was a german photo warehouse as far as I know and I expect these lenses to be in K-mount.
donnie_strickland
I have a couple of Porst lenses in Fuji X-mount, a 28/2.8 and the 35-70 zoom. They're good performers, but I don't know who made them.
christos_theofilogiannakos
No, all those lenses are Fujica-X mount. @D. Strickland: Do you have the two-touch or the one-touch variant?

donnie_strickland
Now that I look for my 35-70, I can't find it, which reminds me that I sold it. It was the two-touch version, and I prefer a one-touch, but now I wish I had kept it.

I do still have a Tamron Adaptall-2 80-210 one-touch zoom with an X-mount. I was going to look for a 35-70 one-touch Tamron so I could use my mount on it, but I never did.
winfried_buechsenschuetz1
Besides the M42 and K-mount cameras, Porst also sold Fuji cameras with X-mount. I am not sure whether the cameras were re-branded (I think they were). The Porst branded lenses were made by various far-east manufacturers, but you cannot be sure they were made by well-reputated japanese companies, some of them were cheaply made korean lenses.
matthijs_velsink
I have many of the Fujica X cameras, together with a bunch of X-mount lenses. Porst indeed rebranded lenses, sometimes even lenses from Fuji. Porst X-mount cameras are all rebranded Fujicas. The Porst CR-1 is the Fujica STX-1, the Porst CR-3 is the Fujica AX-1, the CR-5 is the AX-3 and lastly, the CR-7 is the AX-5.
