brandonlabbe
I just bought a used Makina w67 and I just have one question to confirm that it's working properly. Unlike other cameras, when I load the film, I can't wind continuously to the first frame. I need to release the shutter multiple times to advance the film to the first frame. Also after the last frame I need to release the shutter multiple times to advance to the end of the roll. This for me is very unusual so I want to make sure it's normal and not a sign of future problems. I'm sorry for such a basic question but there are no videos or manuals available to confirm. dennisbrown
Mike Butkus has a copy on his web site. Here's a link to the PDF file. Also, consider sending him $5, or so through Paypal for his efforts. He has hundreds of manuals for just about everything photographic. https://www.cameramanuals.org/prof_pdf/plaubell_makina_67.pdf
brandonlabbe
It's my understanding that the 67 is different from the w67. The 67 takes 120 and 220 whereas the w67 only takes 120. To have such a big difference in basic functionality would make me question any difference in basic function between the two, so unfortunately I can't rely on the normal 67 manual. tom_chow
My W67 winds to the 1st frame after placing the start line, and closing the back, with no shutter release. With no film, the film mechanism winds freely, but cocks the shutter on the first wind. 1 "Manfred, there is a design problem with that camera...every time you drop it that pin breaks"
brandonlabbe
My W67 winds to the 1st frame after placing the start line, and closing the back, with no shutter release. With no film, the film mechanism winds freely, but cocks the shutter on the first wind. So mine requiring a shutter release every time is an indicator of something being wrong? Thank you, that's all I needed. I suspected it but I couldn't confirm it without someone else's first-hand experience. Luckily I have a 30 day return guarantee. I'll file the return immediately. Thank you, I really appreciate your help.
jamesevidon
Contact Camera Wiz by e-mail and pose your question. He is considered the top Makina repair person. I had my Makina CLA'd by him. He's a straight shooter. Frank Marshman camerawiz@msn.com
