George Bernard Shaw was a famous playwright, but the fact that he was

an avid photographer is less known.

In fact, GBS's main hobby was photography. His first camera was

a wet plate 8x10" wet plate camera. GBS did darkroom work himself

did platinotype, gum-bichromate...

Since 1930 he turn to miniature camera, his favourite camera

was Leica rangefinder. Many GBS's photographs show him carrying

his Leica.

The following is the cover page of the book "Bernard Shaw on

Photography", by Bil Jay and Magaret Moore.

Bernard Shaw's camera was Leica I with Leitz Elmar 50mm/f3.5 lens

The book contains more the forty photogaphs taken by

GBS himself-- charming pictures of a literature giant.
