paul_noble
I just got Photoshop Elements 6 and installed it. I downloaded the Adobe Camera Raw and DNG Converter update, version 4.4.1, which seems to be the latest. I followed the installation instructions for the raw converter: I renamed Camera Raw.8bi and copied the newly downloaded version in its place (C:\Program Files\Adobe\Photoshop Elements 6.0\Plug-Ins\File Formats). My camera is a Pentax K10D, which creates either Pentax' proprietary raw format (.pef), or Adobe's Digital Negative format (.dng). PS will open and process either format with no problem. My problem/question is a minor one: when I click on Open and navigate to the folder containing the images, it shows no thumbnails for raw files, but it does for the corresponding jpegs. I am just getting into raw shooting, so, for the time being, I have selected the camera option to record both raw and jpeg versions of each image simultaneously. Is it normal that the open dialog in PS Elements 6.0 won't show thumbnails of raw images? Thanks,Paul Noble
dan_hall4
I had the same problem. Below was the answer. A simple (free) plug in. ACR Raw Previewer. Works great. http://www.arcsoft.com/products/Rawviewer/
chuck_parr
My RAW images always show up as thumbnails in Elements 6, and I never added/downloaded any additional software. It has just always displayed them.
