keith_bintley
Hi there. I am travelling to Cairo on business for the first time in October. I have a Saturday free. I was hoping to visit both the pyramids at Giza as well as the antiquities museum. Am I mad? I was hoping to get an early morning taxi tour from the airport as the most efficient way to get round the traffic. Has anyone else done this? All advice is welcome.
AzDavid
You can get to both sites but with such a tight schedule you will only get the highlights. I had a full day at both sites and still didn't see everything. I would recommend that you seek a private one-day tour guide. They can be well-worth the money. We had one in Rome who got us inside everything without any waits in long, endless lines. Such a person in Cairo would help you navigate language, traffic and lines so that you see as much as possible. I just searched online using "private one-day guide cairo" and found many options. The one linked with Trip Advisor seems to get great reviews. One last note: I'm not sure what the rules are now, but when I visited they did not allow interior photography at either of those sites.
David H
pensacolaphoto
Cairo is not a safe city anymore. Don't carry lots of cash on you as you walk around there.
