graham_sheppard1
Not sure if this is the right place to ask this. My wife gave me a glider flight for my recent 40th birthday, and I was hoping someone could help with how to take the best pictures. I have a digital p&s that I will take, but I will also have my Canon Eos50e (Elan IIe). I was thinking of just taking my 28-105 with a polarizer and a hood, as I can't imagine I will want to be too loaded down. Also I was thinking of a negative film (eg Reala) so I don't need to worry too much about exposure. My main aim is to have fun, so I don't want to get too bogged down trying to take master photos!! Any help appreciated.

jim_gifford
Just take the P&S for now. There isn't much room in a glider cockpit. Remember to enjoy it with your eyes, not just with the camera viewfinder. It'll be over in a flash. Then buy ANOTHER ride and take the Elan. Be well,
michael_villarmia
Don't mean to scare you, but when I saw the title of your thread, I couldn't help but think of this story of National Geographic photographer Sam Abell. stephen hazelton
That was a hang glider, not a glider. Big difference. That was in 1975, too, I think hang gliders were a bit more primitive then, even.
graham_sheppard1
Thanks guys. I am only a passenger, but I will definitely pass on the the tip to keep the blue side up!! Yes, it is not a Hang Glider, and I will also have a chance to fly it myself. I think I will just take to P&S and have fun. Thanks again,

steve_daggs
Graham, Here is a link to some shots I took last fall from a ride in an ultralight. http://www.cyclingphotonews.com/GalleryB/Ultralights1004/PAGE2/index.htm I think there are a few more aerial shots on page 3 as well. I shot these with a D1x and 35-70 f/2.8 (eff 52-105mm). It was an open cockpit plane. I was looking for sunset shots and didn't get what I wanted in this outing.
