Hi all,

I will be travelling to Brisbane next week from Singapore, i will be there for

two weeks. So far i have heard most people mentioned there is nothing much in

Brisbane to last me two week. I disagree cause it really depend on what each

individual is interested in.

Anyway i would really appreciate you folks can give me some tips on photographic

opportunity there. Beside the tourism places, i am sure there are lot of great

spot only the local will aware, any advice is greatly appreciated.

Thanks in advance.

Hmm. I lived in Brisbane, but I wasn't interested in photography back then. Still, my

impressions were that the best way to enjoy Brisbane was to leave it. Head up to the

Sunshine coast; it's much more picturesque. Oh, and don't forget to check out Australia Zoo

while you're in the area.

I spent some holiday time in the area a couple of years ago and yeah: leave brisbane; it is

just another city! Make sure you get yourself a Lonely Planet or Rouh Guides book on

Australia (or just Queensland, if they exist), there will be tonnes of info there. There are

lots of nature parks and such close by and many organized driving, hiking, biking and

rafting tours.

If you can make it up there, go to Fraser Island; lots of good scenery there; beaches, dense

forests, lakes, marshes, you name it. Drive or take a bus there and join a 4WD tour and

stay overnight on the Island.

Enjoy your trip!

Hi Ooi,
Here's a

local link

and the lonely planet link for your perusal. Public transport in Brisbane is a bit lacking but if you visit the Translink site you will find a journey planner which gives you detailed information on getting from point "a" to point "b". As far as photo opportunities, Brisbane is small so the city sights are within walking distance if you have the time. The river runs beside the CBD and there are plenty of street and architectural photo opportunities along its foreshores. Southbank has markets Fri night and all weekend with surrounding restaurants for a beer and a feed. It also has an artificial beach for swimming and there's usually street entertainment there over the weekend. Friday night there's open air Latin dancing adjacent to the Southbank precinct. Good for some shots. Hot air ballooning is a good option to see Brisbane and surrounds and get some good aerials, plus those shots of the balloons getting filled can be quite outstanding. You should find all this info in the links I've given. Hope you enjoy your stay. There's plenty of photo ops out there. All you've got to do is see them. Unfortunately, Brisbane is experiencing it's worst drought in 100 years so it may not be as green as the brochures imply. Catch a CityKat and do the loop along the river. There's cruises on the river too with guides if you want commentary. Won't rave on any more. You should find it in the links. Cheers

I recently entered and left Australia via Brisbane. Luckily I was staying at the Hilton (by the botanical gardens). I really liked that part of twon, which is why I stayed at the same hotel on the way back. There is a nice network of walkways around the gardens (next to the river) and at the end of the garders is a huge pedestrian bridge over the river... very impressive.

Also, in that general area are nice shops, restaurants, pubs, a mall right next to the Hilton. I'm figuring it's the nicest part of town... I liked it, and I'm not much on cities. -Greg-

Aussie pics here, but no Brisbane (camera stuff was packed up).

 • 3 weeks later...

if you take yourself off to the Lone Pine Koala Sanctuary at Brisbane, you'll see beautiful things like these koalas!!!

Brizzy is really nice. You'd get some good evening shots around the river with the city skyline too.
