tsypkin
One of Russia's top news photographers Ilya Pitalev spent two months in Eastern Ukraine, photographing the separatist militiamen and civilians there. The text is in Russian, but most photos speak for themselves: http://www.kommersant.ru/gallery/2477214#id=1028728
AJHingel
Fine series of photos, which we do not see much of in dailynews. They are mostly concentrated on the separatist militias with the population trapped in warzones relatively less shown. I wondered why we don't see similar photos concerning the more than 800.000 (according the newsreports and difficult to veridy) who have fled across the border to Russia or of those who fled to Central and Western Ukraine.
Thanks Mikhail.
AlanKlein
The first picture of the bodies in the truck really shows the violence of war. It's very powerful.
Flickr gallery: https://www.flickr.com/photos/alanklein2000/albums
AJHingel
I agree, Alan, one of the strongest in terms of newsworthiness, but maybe some of the others are better showing the life conditions of the hundreds of thousands that are trapped in a warzone with daily bombings since months.
All this happens a couple of thousands kilometers from the center of Europe. Like the distance between New York and Las Vegas. The meaker photographical documentation from the area is breathtaking. Also East-Ukrainians have mobile phone cameras and at least in some places internet is still up and running.
Uhooru
The work and skill is quality. Not being able to read the text is a little difficult but the pictures tell a story as hard and brutal as that may be. Thanks Mikhail!
