roberto_watson_garc_a
Any recomendations are wellcomed, also about the way to show a portafolio, although I don´t have time and I can only take some CDs with my pictures in it. any one knows the address of aperture in Ny. thanks for answers and jokes
Spearhead
Not having the time and thinking about going to Aperture will guarantee failure. Same thing with other presses. It would make more sense to put together a good presentation and mail it to them rather than what you seem to be suggesting. The largest publisher of photography books in NYC is Distributed Art Publishers. Music and Portraits Blog: Life in Portugal
roberto_watson_garc_a
Thank you very much Jeff, and yes that makes scence. A lot to do before that step.
greg_smith4
I would go to the publishers web page and email them asking if they are taking book submitions. If they say yes I would bring slides, maybe a cd, that you could leave with them.
Spearhead
By the way, the Aperture process is detailed here. However, it's worth taking a look at who they publish before investing in the effort, as they rarely publish books by someone who hasn't been published before; usually, the photographer has a gallery or photojournalistic presence. Except for famous and mostly dead photographers, they also publish "thematic" books rather than collections of images that don't have a strong theme.
You can find the submission guidelines for D.A.P. here. Note that DAP expects a book design. Also DAP usually publishes jointly with a museum or distributes for another publisher.
I think it's easier right now, with the closing of a number of photographic book publishers, to self-publish and look for distribution. roberto_watson_garc_a
Thank again, sometimes it´s worth to be dead, and important to organice it with time, so far scanner hasn´t arrived and time for doing the all process, not included edition, is getting shorter, so I better prepare to enjoy -1 C and stop worring about this yet.
