jairy hunter
Just wanted to share a photo essay from the game I shot this weekend between Charleston Southern University and the Citadel. I did regular sports shots too, but football Saturdays is such an event I thought the spectacle deserved it's own page. Plus for Citadel Alums, I thought they'd rather see this than the game shots (Chas. Southern won). It was the first time I took my wide angle lens to a football game! (For those who might not be familiar, the Citadel is the Military College of South Carolina, dating back to before the civil war. They are steeped in tradition, and interestingly until about 15 years ago, did not admit women. So there's some controversy there too. Also it's not service-connected (i.e. no mandatory military comission on graduation as at Air Force, West Point, Annapolis, etc.). Most people believe it was a Citadel cadet who first fired on Ft. Sumter in Charleston harbor to begin the Civil War. ) Photo essay : http://web.mac.com/drjman/iWeb/CSUBucs.com/Photos%203.html Game Shots : http://web.mac.com/drjman/iWeb/CSUBucs.com/Photos%204.html Last year's essay/game shots : http://web.mac.com/drjman/iWeb/CSUBucs.com/Photos%202.html<div></div>
michaelging
Jairy, You have some great shots in your essay. You also have a lot of not so great shots, duplicate photos, un-cropped photos, that dilute your strong shots. I think editing the photos would help you essay a lot. In many of the photos most of the space is taken up with empty sky. I would suggest that you crop many of your photos tighter and edit the numbers down to just the strongest photos, Approximately 25. You do have a good eye, which would be helped by careful editing.
jairy hunter
Thank you for taking the time to look and comment. Your points are well made. There are a lot of shots, more than usual for an "essay." I don't think there are any exact dupes but your point is taken that there are some which are essentially the same composition and subject-wise that don't add anything new. Thanks again. J.
